About

Hello, I’m Michael Kane

I’m the editor of Higher Ed Mentor. I’ve worked in higher education at both the four-year and community college level since teaching my first class at the State University of New York in Plattsburgh in 1986. I’ve worked as faculty, an academic advisor, Math Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) program director, Learning Center Director, Renewable Energy Program Founder/Director and for the last 16 years, as a dean in the California Community College system. I’ve had the privilege of serving as a dean for Math, Science and Engineering Divisions, Career Technical Education & Workforce Development Divisions and currently as the Dean for Business Education and Professional Programs.

We’ve put this site together to be a resource for faculty, students, administrators and higher education institutions. We welcome your comments, recommendations and are always looking for quality content contributors.
